Gulu leadership
Judith Risa - Human Resources
I was born in the night of 21st July 1980 in Kampala. My father’s name was Ntege Samuel and my mothers’ name was Liberta Mukamusonera and as the names show my father was a Ugandan who as a young man left Uganda for better pastures in the neighboring country Rwanda He married a Rwandese girl and they returned to Uganda for a couple of years.. In l983. They returned to work and live in Rwanda until they both died in 1994 and 2006 respectively and were both buried in Rwanda. We are a family of 4 girls, 2 living in Uganda, one married and lives in Burundi and the last born still lives in Rwanda. Our father wanted us to study in Uganda and learn English instead of studying in Rwanda which was mainly French speaking country. For that matter he brought all the four of us to live and study in Kabale which is the nearest district neighboring Rwanda on the Katuna boarder. Every holiday we would go back to Rwanda.
Our father always wanted us to study hard and he always told us that everything we wanted in life we would find it in books.. He bought so many books and made a home library for us to use He was keen in following up 4 our school work and often discussed with us and our teachers what we needed to do to improve on our academics. This effort paid off, 2 of us are lawyers, one is a business woman and the last born is a teacher. My father was a prayerful person and a committed Christian who wanted his children to grow up as Christians. He often read scriptures to us and taught us worship songs.. This explains why as a young girl I liked singing. My mother fearing that my love for singing would distract my academics tried too hard to discourage me especially from singing before congregations like on crusades.
In 1992 I received Christ as my personal savior at my friends’ house and immediately joined Full Gospel Church in Kabale I was still in primary school. Being young my family didn’t take my salvation serious but I never looked back, later however my family also received Christ In 1994 I left Full Gospel Church and helped start a new church in Kabale which is still there up to date.
In 2001 I left Kabale for good to join University where I was building my career until 2007. in 2002 I met Carole Vezey where we had gone- for a mission in Tororo as members of ETAM (End Time Army Ministries) a youth group on campus which was led by Gad Rugaju and Rushaju Brian.. This is the same time I met Godfrey who is now my Husband.. When I met Carole we immediately feel in love and from that time on when she came to Uganda she looked for me.
In 2005 together with Martins’ family we helped start the ground work especially the paper work and much intercession for the beginning of Favour of God ministries& I was appointed the general secretary for the board of directors we often met in Martins’ home and later Caroles’ home in Bukasa to pray and seek Gods’ guidance in the plans we hat In 2005 the ministry begun in Gulu.. Since I was still in school I would came to help during vacation. During the same time I was helping to gather data for African Resource ministries which is the organization Martin, Carole and I worked with before they came to Gulu.
When I finished school in September 2007 I decided to come and give back to God my time and training as a thanksgiving for seeing me through school I quit ray job at the Directorate of Public Prosecution where I had worked since February 2005 and came to work full time in Gulu.
Favour of God at that moment was in need of legal help desperately because of the quick growth in staff, activities and acquiring property. Policies and procedures, memorandum and Articles we needed urgently, incorporation, titles, registration of property like cars, among others needed to be done.
In April 2008 I married my old friend Godfrey in what has so far my been the best wedding ceremony ever especially because I was the bride.
I have lived and served full time in Gulu from 2007 to date.
My time in Gulu has been both challenging and exciting but all in all I’m glad that God has given me a chance to be part of what He is doing in Northern Uganda.
