Uganda Hope Leadership
Rob and Leah Vis
In 2007 Carole Vezey came to our church and shared about the dreadful war in northern Uganda and the amazing breakthroughs God was accomplishing to bring light and hope. She said, "You have to see where God is moving and join him there." At that very first meeting, God touched our hearts and we longed to join the work he was doing. We didn't know how to start and never really thought we'd have the blessing of directly working with Favor of God, but we had to begin somewhere with this new burden. A group formed at our church to commit to praying for northern Uganda and partnering with Favor of God. We would gather together regularly to lift up the ministry and plead for northern Uganda and the many hurting and oppressed people there.
Carole came back to visit a couple times, and on one of those visits was determined to build a State-side team to support the work of Favor of God over in Uganda. God placed it on our hearts to consider leading this endeavor, and it was soon confirmed with Carole and many others that we should be the ones to fill this role. From the very beginning we have felt unqualified and a bit over our heads, but we knew God wanted this position to have people through whom any good result would be the obvious work of God and not of man. Daily we are reminded that it's not by might nor by power, but by the powerful Spirit of God that kingdom work is accomplished.
We have been blessed beyond our expectations as we serve our brothers and sisters in northern Uganda. Their lives, faith, ministry, and encouragement sharpen us as we continue to seek God's face and live after his heart.
